Dry mouth and seniors
 

More seniors today in the Columbia area have retained their own teeth, avoiding the trauma of removable dentures.  Many are on medications creating dryness of the mouth as a side effect.

Without the natural benefit of saliva to decrease bacterial action, Dr. Reese is seeing an increase of cavities on the root surfaces of these patients. 

Anyone on a medication causing a dry mouth effect should be encouraged to visit Show Me Smiles for regular dental cleanings and topical fluoride rinses.

Show Me Smiles  Jay B. Reese, DDS, PC is a practice of General Dentistry.  This provider is not a specialist in Orthodontics (braces), Endodontics (root canals), Periodontics (gum therapy or surgery), Oral Surgery (extractions), or Prosthodontics (crowns, bridges, full or partial dentures).  Bleaching, cosmetic dentistry, implantology, implant dentistry, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) therapy are non-specialty interest areas that require no specific educational training to advertise these services.  Conscious sedation is taught as a part of post-graduate residency programs approved by the American Dental Association.  Dr. Reese has not completed an American Dental Association approved residency program in which conscious sedation is taught.
